Production Diary

Week beginning; Monday 21st November 2016

This week of filming I booked my actors and set out to buy any equipment. I arranged to shoot with Leona the following Wednesday (30th November) and agreed with Tom that we would shoot when possible (we see each other often in class). I went to Tesco’s, originally hoping to buy some Jelly Belly jelly beans but found out that they only stock their own brand. Luckily, i found out that the delicatessen near my college has a rail of Jelly Belly jelly beans, so along with a couple of packets of the Tesco’s own brand (to save money) i bought some of the original product i was aiming to advertise too. I also went to the fancy dress shop on George street to get some face paint to use on the shots with Leona. I decided to buy the cheap ‘face paint sticks’ in hope that they would work.

I also had my first go at the stop-motion software. I created some rough shots of the moving jelly beans just to try out what i were to film the following week. The technicians and Karl helped me find my way around the software.

Week beginning; Monday 28th November 2016.

Really kicked off with the jelly belly animation, and during out CMP lessons i was able to get a substantial amount of the shooting done.

Unfortunately, the filming with Leona had to be suspended because the face paints didn’t work.

Week beginning; Monday 5th December 2016.

Went to another fancy dress shop in town and inquired about what would be the right face paint to use on someone's lips, then bought the correct palette.

Continued with animation in class.

Week beginning; Monday 12th December 2016

Arranged to shoot Leona on the Wednesday after lunch. This time, shooting was very successful and was glad to have her parts done.

Continued with animation.

Shot Tom’s scenes during Thursday's lesson, had to run to library to get paper printed off etc., but shooting went smoothly and to plan, he wore the jumper i told him to!

Started editing over the weekend, got a chance to sit in a coffee shop and get the first 20 seconds done.

Week beginning; Monday 19th December 2016

Christmas week- didn’t get any more editing done.

Week beginning; Monday 26th December 2016

Spent large part of Tuesday and Wednesday editing, kept going over the first 30 seconds and making changes! Had made a start on the rest of the ad but was finally happy with the first half.

Week beginning; Monday 2nd January 2017

Made substantial progress on the rest of my editing, mostly on Wednesday and Thursday evening. It was helpful that i was editing on my own personal laptop so was able to bring it out and edit wherever i was (Train, Coffee shop etc.).

Still had some finishing touches upon arrival back to college.

Week beginning; Monday 9th January 2017

Gained feedback from Karl in subject extension which was helpful, final edit was finished by Thursday. Immediately created survey and shared the video on Facebook so i could gain responses.

Week beginning; Monday 16th January 2017

Completed majority of evaluation by the start of the week, and delivered my evaluation presentation on Wednesday.
